Over the past 18 months Samantha Gash and myself have been working tirelessly to get this project off the ground and it is with great delight that we have now launch our Freedom Runners project for 2014.
We will be running 2,350km over 32 days along the Freedom Trail in South Africa in order to raise awareness of a taboo subject relating to the lack of menstruation hygiene support in the poor communities of South Africa and the impact it has on the education of young girls.
Our aim is to raise funds for the establishment of a social enterprise business in South Africa. The business will employ women to make and distribute low cost feminine hygiene products in the Namahadi Community in the country’s Free State Province of South Africa. Save the Children South Africa will act as Project Manager of the social enterprise business.
We have an incredibly global and talented team of people helping and supporting us from the UK, AUS, South Africa, Ireland, Canada and USA, we really are incredibly lucky and privileged to have such amazing people on board.
Please take a moment to take a look at our fantastic website www.freedomrunners.org for further information.
